Senior Cloud Support Engineer

As our Senior Cloud Support Engineer (Level 3), you’ll play a critical role in strengthening and evolving our cloud-first environment across the group.
This is a role for an experienced engineer who acts as the final escalation point, brings strong engineering judgment, and thrives in complex Azure and hybrid environments. You’ll work autonomously, influence how we run cloud operations, and drive meaningful improvements in reliability, automation, performance, and security.

What you’ll be doing
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
Act as Level 3 / final escalation point for critical cloud, infrastructure, and platform incidents
Own complex issues end-to-end, including investigation, resolution, root-cause analysis, and prevention
Operate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve Azure and hybrid cloud environments
Maintain and enhance high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies
Implement patches, upgrades, and system improvements to ensure secure and stable platforms
Drive automation-first operations using Infrastructure as Code and scripting
Operate and troubleshoot containerized and distributed workloads (AKS or equivalent)
Design and improve monitoring, logging, and observability across platforms
Apply and enforce cloud security and governance best practices
Contribute to cloud cost optimisation with a FinOps mindset
Mentor and technically guide L1/L2 engineers
Maintain clear architectural documentation, runbooks, and operational standards
Incident & Problem Management
Lead or support technical resolution for major incidents alongside the IT Lead
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement long-term preventive measures
Ensure incidents are logged, tracked, and resolved according to ITSM standards
Analyse recurring issues and drive structural improvements
Process Improvement & Collaboration
Identify and drive improvements in operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability
Contribute to automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives
Develop or recommend scripts, tools, and processes to reduce manual effort
Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and service providers when required
Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and team capability building
Core expertise required
To be successful in this role, you must bring expert-level hands-on experience in:
Cloud platforms: Azure (primary), with strong hybrid and multi-cloud understanding
Azure services: Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Conditional Access, Defender, virtual machines, networking, storage
Infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Citrix Workspace
Networking: DNS, IP networking, VPNs, firewalls, hybrid connectivity
Infrastructure as Code: ARM, Bicep, Terraform
Automation & scripting: PowerShell, REST APIs, workflow automation
Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (AKS preferred)
Observability: monitoring, logging, alerting, and distributed system troubleshooting
Security & governance: IAM, encryption, access control, compliance fundamentals
Resilience & data: backup, recovery, high availability, managed databases
Who we’re looking for
You bring strong technical knowledge and the mindset to lead, challenge, and deliver.
You have 7+ years of IT support experience, including 3+ years in a senior infrastructure or cloud-focused role
You take initiative; you're proactive, not reactive
You challenge constructively, pushing teams and delivery partners to do better
You own your work; from start to finish, you see it through
You’re a strong communicator, able to explain complex issues clearly
You’re collaborative, yet confident working independently
Excellent ownership, analytical, and decision-making skills
You’re fluent in English (Dutch or French is a plus)
You’re comfortable in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
Certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, CCNP or ITIL Foundation are a strong plus
If you have practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation, as well as FinOps or structured cloud cost management, these would be considered valuable additional skills.
