Staff Accountant:
The Staff Accountant ensures the smooth and efficient operation of accounting, financial reporting, invoicing, billing, and collection processes. This role provides guidance and support on various accounting and administrative matters and assists with other administrative and project-related tasks. This role reports directly to the Finance Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting:
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts and perform variance analysis
Support AP/AR functions and daily cash reporting
Support internal controls, reporting requests, and process improvements
Research and resolve payment discrepancies as needed
Assist leadership with year-end activities and special projects
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
Maintain accurate accounting records and files.
Manage bank accounts for various legal entities.
Prepare budgets and forecasts.
Manage fixed assets.
Interface with colleagues and management in cross functional departments and at company Headquarters
Support Global Shared Services with AR/AP/Fixed Asset and other ledger inquiries.
Other Financial and Accounting Matters:
Manage business and tax registrations in different US states.
Maintain the 'Corporate Records' database for various legal entities.
Coordinate and follow up on employee expense reporting.
Assist with contract management for suppliers and customers.
Perform other operational and business support tasks as assigned, maintaining flexibility and professionalism.
Competencies (Knowledge and Skills):
Bachelor's required; Master's preferred
Proven experience as a staff accountant.
Strong understanding of US accounting procedures (multi-state or national experience is a plus).
Experience with ERP systems or various accounting software.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and numerical proficiency.
Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
Result-driven, proactive, and dynamic personality.
Ability to work independently.
Acts as a role model and team player.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word).
What Success Looks Like:
Delivers accurate and timely month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Maintains reliable financial records and ensures compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Proactively identifies and resolves discrepancies in AP/AR, billing, and cash reporting to support smooth financial operations.
Provides responsive, cross-functional support to leadership and Global Shared Services, contributing to efficient financial processes.
Continuously improves accounting workflows, internal controls, and reporting accuracy through a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
