We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Senior SAP Finance Application Support Engineer (L3) to join our IT team and take ownership of SAP Finance support operations across the group

Scope

In this role, you will act as the senior escalation point for complex SAP Finance incidents and integrations, ensuring stability, compliance, and continuity of critical financial processes. You will work closely with Finance stakeholders, external partners, and technical teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and strengthen operational reliability across our SAP ecosystem.

This role goes beyond incident handling. You will drive root cause analysis, continuous improvement, automation, and knowledge sharing while helping shape the maturity of our SAP Finance support operations.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Finance Support & Incident Management

• Act as the L3 owner for SAP Finance processes (FI/CO), ensuring correctness of financial postings and compliance

• Serve as the final escalation point for complex incidents, problems, and service requests related to SAP Finance and connected enterprise applications

• Support and troubleshoot critical Finance activities including:

  • Period-end close

  • GR/IR clearing

  • FX revaluation

  • Asset accounting close

  • Financial audits

• Investigate and resolve issues impacting:

  • Financial statements

  • Payments

  • Treasury operations

  • Statutory and tax reporting

• Analyse and troubleshoot Finance-related integrations with:

  • Banking systems

  • AP automation platforms (e.g. Basware, VIM)

  • E-invoicing and statutory reporting solutions

SAP Finance Operations & Integrations

• Monitor, maintain, and optimise integrations and data exchanges between SAP and third-party financial systems

• Support and troubleshoot:

  • Electronic Bank Statements (CAMT / MT)

  • Payment and Bank Communication Management

  • VAT / WHT tax processes

  • Parallel ledgers and currencies

• Participate in SAP upgrades, patches, testing activities, and Finance-related configuration changes

• Ensure SAP license usage and access management remain compliant with internal and external requirements

Problem Management & Continuous Improvement

• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major Finance incidents and implement preventive actions

• Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation, and operational improvements across Finance support processes

• Contribute to improved monitoring, alerting, and operational stability within the SAP Finance landscape

• Ensure compliance with:

  • Internal security policies

  • Segregation of Duties (SoD)

  • Audit and governance requirements

Knowledge Management

• Create and maintain knowledge articles, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and operational documentation

• Mentor and support L1/L2 support engineers on SAP Finance processes and troubleshooting techniques

• Collaborate closely with Finance stakeholders across HQ and local entities to ensure clear communication and effective issue resolution

• Contribute to improved support processes, ticket categorisation, escalation handling, and SLA performance

We are looking for someone who:

Essential qualifications:

• Proven experience as an L3 SAP Application Support Engineer or similar senior support role in SAP Finance environments

• Strong hands-on experience supporting SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI/CO) in production environments

• Strong troubleshooting expertise across:

  • General Ledger (Universal Journal)

  • Parallel ledgers and currencies

  • VAT / WHT tax processes

  • Payments and Bank Communication Management

• Experience supporting Finance period-end close activities in SAP

• Hands-on experience supporting Finance-related integrations such as:

  • Electronic Bank Statements (CAMT / MT)

  • AP workflow and invoicing tools (Basware, VIM)

  • E-invoicing and statutory reporting solutions (e.g. SAP DRC)

• Solid understanding of ITIL practices: Incident, Problem, Change and Knowledge Management

• Experience with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow

• Ability to assess and explain the business and accounting impact of SAP Finance incidents

• Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform)

• Knowledge of SAP license auditing and compliance tools

• Experience with automation and process optimisation initiatives

• Experience mentoring team members and driving knowledge-sharing initiatives
