Airside GSE Charging Lead - Luton Airport
The opportunity
Join our Operations team as an Airside GSE Charging Lead, taking responsibility for the safe and efficient management of the airside charging operation during your shift. You will lead a team of operatives, coordinate battery charging activities, and ensure Ground Support Equipment (GSE) battery requirements are met to support airport operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise and support Airside Battery and Charging Operatives during the shift.
Coordinate battery collections, charging schedules and returns to meet operational demand.
Allocate daily tasks, monitor progress and respond to changing operational priorities.
Monitor charger performance, battery availability and equipment status, escalating faults and defects as required.
Ensure safe handling, charging and transportation of battery banks in line with approved procedures.
Maintain accurate records of charging activities, battery movements, defects and shift actions.
Deliver comprehensive shift handovers, ensuring all priorities and outstanding actions are communicated.
Liaise with operational teams, customers and Workshop Supervisors regarding equipment availability and charging requirements.
Promote compliance with airside driving regulations, PPE requirements, health and safety standards, and safe systems of work.
Provide coaching and guidance to team members, escalating any attendance, capability or conduct concerns when necessary.
Support investigations relating to incidents, near misses or equipment faults.
Undertake operational charging duties when required to support service delivery.
What We Are Looking For
Skills & Experience
Experience within an airport, airside, logistics, workshop or similar operational environment.
Previous supervisory, team leader or shift coordination experience is desirable.
Full UK driving licence.
Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and an Airside Driving Permit.
Experience of electric vehicles, battery charging systems or Ground Support Equipment (desirable).
Competent in using handheld devices and electronic recording systems.
Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
Comfortable working outdoors in an active airside environment.

Working Hours/Days/Shifts
4 on 4 off shift-based role including weekends and bank holidays, in line with operational requirements. Working hours: 0530 to 1730.
